DRIVING

getting to mt buller

You have several options for getting to Victoria’s snow resorts – most guests drive their own vehicle, which is perfectly safe to do. Whilst alpine roads can often have snow on them when there has been fresh snowfall, the roads are cleared by machinery wherever possible.

Depending on the conditions, you may need to fit snow chains to the tyres of your vehicle. Snow chains are available to hire from a number of outlets, both in Melbourne and on the way to the snow – it’s best to drop into one of the ski hire outlets or service stations in the towns closest to the snow resorts and they will assist you.

If you’re staying overnight, by law you must carry wheel chains. If you’re just heading up for the day, depending on the conditions you may or may not need to carry them – again, once you’ve decided which mountain you are going to visit, check out their website and search ‘chains’ for the regulations for that mountain.
