Family fun on Mt Buller

Victoria’s snow resorts offer a huge range of accommodation options to suit your style and budget. Types of accommodation:

  • Lodges: one of the many special things about Victoria’s snow resorts is their rich history of family-owned ski lodges, which offer affordable, flexible accommodation which is ideal for groups and families. Some have shared facilities including communal kitchens and comfy lounges, so if you’re keen for a night in you can make yourself at home and enjoy a cook-up and some relaxing by the fire telling tales of your day on the slopes.
  • Hotels: all the comforts of a city hotel but high in the hills – most of Victoria’s snow resorts have hotels that offer various rooms, plus facilities including restaurants, ski hire and even pools and day spas. Hotels vary from rom mid-range to luxury.
  • Apartments: self-contained apartments are readily available and provide flexibility for all types of visitors.
  • Private chalets: looking to live large? Luxurious private ski chalets are a wonderful way to treat yourself. Think warm open fires, indulgences like private spas and saunas and everything you could need for an exclusive stay.

Visiting at different times during the season will attract different pricing structures – low season (June and September) see some great deals on offer with up to 50% off accommodation, and it’s perfect time for new snow lovers to visit. The peak season periods of July and August generally see higher pricing, coinciding with greater snow coverage for serious skiers and boarders.

First timer tip: state of the art snowmaking systems at Victoria’s snow resorts mean more snow, more often. Several of the mountains, including Mt Buller and Mt Baw Baw have invested in ‘Snow Factory’ technology, which means they can actually guarantee snow for you to enjoy from the opening of the season right through to the final day (and sometimes beyond!), meaning you can book with the confidence in knowing there will be plenty of snow for you to enjoy during your visit.
